Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How do I get started? A: Go to our link titled "Getting Started". It will give you instructions that will guide you to the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA)site, and you will be able to register for the OREA courses

Q: What are the costs involved in taking the courses? A: At the OREA site, the courses and their costs are clearly outlined.

Q: How long will it take to finish the courses and get my license? A: If you take the courses on a full time basis, it could take as little as 6-8 weeks. If you do the courses in the evenings on a part time basis, 6 months is more likely.

Q: What happens after I take the courses? A: You must write the exams and wait for the results. If you have passed your courses, you will be eligible to join the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB). Most Brokers in Toronto are members of the Board, and in order to be licensed with a Board Broker, you must join TREB. You can do this when you choose a Broker to work with. Your new Broker will submit your application to TREB. There are fees involved. Since the TREB fees are prorated to TREB's fiscal requirements, we cannot quote you an amount. That will come to you in the form of an invoice from TREB.

Q: How do I join a Broker? A: Generally, a prospective sales rep, will call the Brokers in the area where they live or intend to work, and set up confidential interviews to see what each Broker has to offer. Then you make your decision.

Q: What should I look for when interviewing a Broker? A: The commission split should be the least important issue for you at this time. What you need to determine is what that Broker will do for you to get your new career jump started. Will the Broker train you? Will the Broker be your coach? Will the Broker give you the tools you will need to get listings and tie down buyers? Will the Broker supply you with qualified leads to help you make money? Will the Broker work for you? . after all, you're paying the Broker. you're the boss.
